The Poor People’s Campaign led by Reverends William Barber and Liz Theoharis is launching six weeks of protest in Alabama with a rally at the capitol, part of a national effort to fight poverty, improve the environment and increase access to voting.  The rallies will occur on each Monday (May 14 to June 18) except for the week of Memorial Day.  On that week we’ll rally in Montgomery on TUESDAY, May 29.  The training session starts at 11:00 am at Alabama New South Coalition, 838 S. Court Street, 36104.  Lunch is provided. The rally starts at 2:00 at a location TBA. Should last an hour or so.
The effort will culminate with a march in Washington D.C. on June 23.  Nationally, organizers have targeted the 2017 tax overhaul as part of the protest and will also call for universal single-payer health care and increases to the minimum wage.
